Why Organic...?!!

A few people have been asking me why I want to use Organic cotton?!
Well...for a little insight into my world...I have a thyroid disease known as Hashimoto's Disease. One of the worst contenders for this disease are genetically modified foods, especially dairy; meats and fresh produce.
To help my disease, Organic foods were stipulated by my Specialist and to be honest, I have never looked back!! The flavours of Organic food are far more superior and the health benefits of eating non GMF and pesticide free produce are amazing!!!
I also have eczema, which makes my skin super sensitive and after alot of research, I found that Organic cotton is pesticide and chemical free,it's also not genetically modified...making it perfect for people with sensitive skin!!
It is also SUPER soft and feels amazing to touch!
Organic cotton is basically grown in fields free from pesticides and allowed to grow freely...pretty much how it was once grown before civilization grew the need for HIGH turnaround and HIGH demand.
It is grown with purity and simplicity and even though it takes longer to grow...the results are a much softer cotton, without the harsh chemicals.
So...with all of this info...
My quest for Organic cottoned clothing was thus born!!!
Sadly, all I found were pretty plain and very expensive clothing made out of Organic cotton and decided it was time to fix this up!!
I knew then that Organic cotton clothing was what I really wanted to focus on for 4 Lil Babushkas and set out to make this available for my customers!
I have loved arts and craft ever since I was small.Every Tuesday night was craft night in our house and My Mother fostered a love of sewing in my life.
I watched her sewing away till all hours of the night and am soo glad she did because now here I am doing hand stitched appliques on Organic clothing and am loving every minute of it!!
I have loved handmade clothes for...forever and have been playing around with various styles that I want to create... It isn't always easy to source Organic cotton, but I do try my hardest to stock it.When I can't get Organic, only Designer and quality cotton is used.
I really want 100% of my clothing thats hand appliqued to be created on Organic cotton clothing and I am doing my best to achieve this!! ATM...it isn't 100%, but hopefully this can change.
Organic cotton clothing is only just emerging, but hopefully we can see it escalate and take off!! Together we can take a stand against GM products and give our children purity and simplicity, without having to pay the earth!!!

Current work in progress!!

After listing a few items with My Etsy last night...I am getting more and more excited with my current work in progress!! Bubble skirts for lil girlies and some funky trousers for lil boys!! Hair accessories for lil girls are also underway, with some really hip bandanas for lil boys!! There are soo many hair accessories for girls out there, but what about the lil men in our lives?!! They will coordinate with the appliqued tees or singlets and can't wait to have some up and ready for sale!
My Geisha Dolly seems to be a hit at the moment, with one of my adult friends wanting something similar on a singlet for herself!!!
"The Little Red Riding Hood" fabric was a dream to applique, and am happy to say that is one of my items listed on My Etsy!
I have also just found a supplier for organic singlets and will be purchasing some when their new stock arrives.
When I purchased "The Very Hungry Caterpiller" fabric, I was left with a gorgeous butterfly panel afterwards.
Soo...I am going to make a really pretty taggy blankie for my darling lil girl who is nearly 9 mths old now!! Soon I'll be organising her 1st birthday! But here is what I did with the Hungry Caterpiller himself!!
Better get going and do some sewing!!
Hope you have a fabulous weekend!
